Hiyatek CF-6159-1 Laptop Cooler with USB Hub
December 04, 2006

The Basics:

The images below show the top and bottom of the CF-6159-1 cooler in its "contracted" state. All exposed surfaces are black ABS plastic, and you can only see the fans from the bottom when closed up for storage, travel, etc. The top features a rubber strip intended to support the front edge of a notebook computer, and two height adjustable rubber feet to support the rear of a notebook. The feet are on threaded rods, and you get about 3/4" of elevation when fully extended. The bottom of the cooler features four stationary rubber feet to prevent the unit from slipping and to reduce vibration/noise.

As shown in the above right image, and in closer detail in the below left image, there is a compartment on the bottom side between the two fan openings. Opening a sliding door reveals a storage area for the included USB power cable. As shown in the below right image, the cord has two full size connectors on the end intended for your notebook computer, while the end intended for the cooler has a single mini USB connector.

In some situations it may be necessary to have both connections plugged into the host computer to make sure that enough power is provided and that data can be transferred through the hub connections, but I found that using just one USB connection was more than adequate on my notebook computer (which is lucky since it only has one USB port).

Below we see the cooler fully expanded from the top and the bottom. What immediately caught my attention is just how big this thing gets! I could tell right away it would be far too big for my 15" Dell Inspiron like this, and that I was only going to have it open part way for it to work properly.
