Sunbeamtech NUUO 550W Power Supply
June 19, 2006

Conclusion:

Despite the small drop offs when loaded up during testing, the Sunbeamtech NUUO 550W power supply is great. I would have liked to have tested it with a second PCI-X card to see how the load voltages stood up, but in the testing actually conducted it performed quite well.

For the most part everything about the PSU was excellent except the fact that there was only one true PCI Express cable. If the PSU is SLI certified I would expect to see dual modular PCI Express cables. Other than that, my system has been very stable these past few weeks of use including Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R. for a few hours spurts.

On top of that, the modular design allowed me to free up some clutter in my system by using only the cables needed for my components.

A search of PriceGrabber shows that the Sunbeamtech NUUO 550W PSU can be purchased from a handful of respected online stores for right around $80 (US). This is a highly competitive price for a power supply of this quality, making it even easier to recommend.

Given all of the positive features of the Sunbeamtech NUUO 550W Power Supply Unit it is easy to apply the award of "Highly Recommended"!

Pros:

» High quality modular cables and connectors
» Temperature monitoring/control with tri-fan cooling
» Easy molex grippers
» Strong performance
» Competitively priced

Cons:

» Only one real PCI Express cable

Special thanks to Sunbeamtech for providing the NUUO 550W Power Supply to Bigbruin.com for review!
