NZXT Adamas Premium Aluminum Chassis
November 20, 2006

Conclusion:

I must say my expectations were very high for the NZXT Adamas Premium Aluminum Chassis, but they fell short because of flaws in the design.

I was curious to see how the screw/tool-less design for the side panels and front cover worked; they wound up being great and make it simple to access the case internals. With such a nice tool-less innovation here, I wonder why they did not continue that idea to the inside and implement some more traditional tool-less features. When I saw the nice filter for the front fan I was thinking maybe this system would keep the dust out. However, none of the other fans have these filters. I would have liked to see filters on every fan. On the NZXT web site, the pictures of the interior for the Adamas are not the same as I received. On the top two 3.5" bays my unit had a set back second bay, while on the site it shows them lined up. I don't know anybody who would want a hard drive hanging out about two inches so some wiring can be routed through the bay.

A search on PriceGrabber presently does not turn up any results for the NZXT Adamas Premium Aluminum Chassis, but looking elsewhere shows that you can get it in either black or silver, with prices ranging from $166 to $200 (US). Although this seems a little on the high side, this product is made with heavy duty materials with some innovative design features.

Thanks to the innovative design for easy side and front panel removal, the NZXT Adamas Premium Aluminum Chassis earns the Bigbruin.com "Great Idea" award.

Pros:

» Easily removable front and side panels
» Strong chassis
» Stealth optical drive bay cover
» Four 120mm fans included

Cons:

» Pull-off covers for expansion slots
» Cramped interior with ATX board
» Molex only connector for fans
» Lacking internal design

Special thanks to NZXT for providing the NZXT Adamas Premium Aluminum Chassis to Bigbruin.com for review!
