Vizo Luxon 3.5
August 16, 2006

Vizo Technology Corp may not be a household name, however they are working on that. They offer a variety of interesting products backed by the company's simple philosophy... "to make customers enjoy the high quality PC stuff all the time."

Recently I took at look at two devices by Vizo, the Propeller and the MirrorBox 32-in-1 card reader, which offered a nice introduction to some of the company's products. Today I am looking at another item from their relatively small line-up, the Luxon 3.5" IDE/SATA Hard Drive Enclosure. This enclosure features a USB 2.0 and external SATA connection, and is available in black, blue, and gray.

Before jumping into the review, let's take a look at some published data on the Luxon hard drive enclosure taken from the Vizo website.

Packaging:

The Luxon comes packaged in a cardboard box as shown below. This is designed for a retail setting, having a metallic look to it, along with plenty of information to convey exactly what you might be purchasing. The front side gives you just a quick glimpse of the enclosure, while the back side gives you detailed features and specifications.

Opening the box, there is another box that actually holds the Luxon and other components. Inside this box, you can see the Luxon is placed in a plastic bag, and held in place by two foam blocks. The power adapter is in a separate box next to the unit, once again between the foam blocks. The other accessories are separated and neatly packaged.
