Zippy (EMACS) GSM-6600P and PSL-6720P Power Supplies
November 08, 2006

Packaging:

The packages for both power supplies are simple and to the point. If you are buying these you are looking at top of the line units, and wouldn't be interested in any fancy graphics or other gimmicks. A color image of the contents of the box and a list of what type of system the unit should be used with is all that is on the front.

The side of the box displays some images of which connectors are included, accompanied by a short list of features. In the first image, you can see the size difference between the 600W (top) and 720W (bottom). One interesting feature that isn't available on most power supplies I have seen is a small clip that ensures the power cord does not pull out. On the end of the box there are a few more features stated on the 720W model's box, while the 600W model just displays the rear view of the PSU.

Inside the box we get to see the goods. On the left is the 600W PSU and on the right is the 720W PSU. Both are well protected from rough handling, and the wires are nicely bundled with a thick rubber band.

The Basics:

An interesting paper included with the unit is a "CHROMA ATE TEST REPORT" (from the official ChromaUSA.com site, "Chroma is the industry's leading supplier of automatic power supply test systems for production, engineering and quality verifications of power supplies.) A very nice document to have, which simply that shows every unit is tested and passes a vigorous test before it gets into a customer's hands.
