Zippy (EMACS) GSM-6600P and PSL-6720P Power Supplies
November 08, 2006

Conclusion:

Zippy (EMACS) has just about perfected the power supply. The GSM-6600P(G1) and PSL-6720P(G1) power supplies are built to last and have no problem handling a load. This is the first time I have seen a Zippy product, and I am very impressed. They are hard to find in the US, but hopefully they will become much more popular as they make their presence known.

Regardless of whether you overclock or not, either power supply is a fantastic choice. You will not need to worry about your components getting the right amount of juice. It is very nice to see an abundance of quality cables, especially the six SATA connectors on the 720W unit. I would have liked to have seen at least one more floppy connector, because someone with a motherboard that requires that extra power might be strapped if they need one for an actual floppy drive.

I didn't find any results when searching PriceGrabber, but a Google search finds the PSL-6720P for $300.66 and the GSM-6600P for about $140. Although these prices are higher than 'competitive' models, you do get what you pay for.

Considering there is no higher award available at Bigbruin.com, the two Zippy (EMACS) power supplies both earn the top honor of "Highly Recommended".

Pros:
» Exceptional performance
» Steady voltage rails
» Professional grade quality
» Tidy cables

Cons:

» Only one floppy connector

Special thanks to Zippy (EMACS) for providing the Zippy (EMACS) GSM-6600P and PSL-6720P Power Supplies to Bigbruin.com for review!
