Kingwin Mach 1 ABT-800MA1S 800W Power Supply
August 02, 2007

Packaging:

The top of the package for the Kingwin Mach 1 800W Power Supply has a handle for toting it around, an image of the modular connection side of the unit, and some certification logos along the bottom edge. The side of the package shows the power supply all lit up with blue LEDs on the modular connectors and the 140mm fan.

On another side we can see images of the connectors, as well as some more certification logos at the top. The opposite side displays the model number and a ton of features for the power supply.

On a side note, the unit sits on a 1/2" thick piece of Styrofoam inside the box to protect it during shipping. Unfortunately, and to my dissatisfaction, the motherboard power connectors got wedged between the power supply and the Styrofoam, which caused the mess shown below. Bits of Styrofoam were in between the connectors. This scenario could have been avoided by not using Styrofoam as a base, or wrapping the motherboard power connectors so they would not dig in and make a mess.

External Examination:

The specifications label on the side of the Kingwin Mach 1 Power Supply is large and easy to read. The 3.3V and 5V voltage rails are pretty beefy at 24A and 32A, respectively. There are four 12V rails, rated at 18V, 18V, 20V, and 22V; for a total of 720W.

On the side opposite the specifications label is a chart to show how the "auto thermostatic" fan functions. As the temperature rises, so does the speed of the 140mm fan keeping the power supply as cool and quiet as it needs to be. The blue LED 140mm fan has nine blades, and from the pictures on the box it is pretty brightly lit. There is a standard grill to stop foreign objects from entering the unit via the fan area.
