Kingwin Mach 1 ABT-800MA1S 800W Power Supply
August 02, 2007

External Examination (continued):

The back of the unit looks fairly standard, with features seen on many power supplies on the market today. There is the popular honeycomb design, with a power plug and an on/off switch. However, the other side is very unique looking, even for a modular power supply.

Each modular cable connects via a keyed plug. The 5-pin plugs are for SATA and other "standard" connections, while the 4-pin plugs are exclusively used for PCI-E cables. Each plug also includes a cap that can be left in place when not in use.

Internal Inspection:

The inside of the Kingwin Mach 1 800W Power Supply is jammed packed with components. On the left there are two of the biggest capacitors I have ever seen in a PSU. The heatsinks seem fairly small when compared to something like the Zippy power supplies reviewed a few months back. If you look closely you can see that the motherboard cables are sleeved a few inches into the unit so you never see bare wires outside of the casing.
