Kingwin Z1-35EU-BK USB 2.0 and eSATA Hard Drive Enclosure
December 14, 2007

The Basics:

The Kingwin enclosure provided for review is seen in the images below, and while we received the black version, it is also available in red and blue. The body of the enclosure is constructed of aluminum, while either end is primarily made of chrome plated plastic. The Z1 logo on the front of the housing glows blue when in use. A plastic stand, chromed to match, keeps the enclosure standing up right.

In the above right image we see the business end of the Z1, and from top to bottom we have a USB port, an eSATA port, a power switch, and a power plug.

The next image takes a look at the side of the device, where a chromed oval featuring the Kingwin logo can be seen. While not visible in this image, the lettering has a bit of a prismatic effect, showing a variety of colors when viewed from different angles.

Accessories:

The image below shows the balance of the items included with the Kingwin Z1 drive enclosure. There is a power cord, AC to DC adaptor brick, eSATA cable, USB cable, Driver & Utility CD, a small screwdriver, and a bag of screws for mounting a drive. While it is nice to see an eSATA cable is actually included, it is even nicer to see that all of the cables are high quality. Including a screwdriver is convenient, but I found the head to be too small to actually work on the Phillips head screws found on the enclosure.
