Mushkin HP-580AP 580W Enhanced Power Supply
August 24, 2007

Cables:

Since this is a modular power supply most of the cables can be used as needed. But, there are three cables that are not modular due to the fact that most systems will need these to operate. From left to right in the below left image we have the ATX 20+4 pin power connector, 4+4 pin P4 connector, and a ground connector that needs to be screwed into the case for additional grounding. The below right image shows the connectors for SATA devices. There are two cables sporting four SATA connectors on each. Wow! A total of eight SATA devices for this Power Supply!

Both cables for PCI Express graphics are shielded against EMI, and if you look closely, one of the connectors has an extra 2 pins for compatibility with the latest high end video cards.

The "old school" cables include those for the 4 pin Molex drive connectors and 4 pin floppy connectors. The below left image shows one of two cables that include one floppy and one 4 pin Molex connector. The below right image shows one of two cables that include two 4 pin Molex connectors.

Accessories:

The included accessories are shown below; a manual, standard power cord, plastic zip ties, and four screws. As I pointed out earlier in the review, the list of contents on the side of the box indicates that something is included that actually isn't. The list says that it includes Velcro cable ties, but it seems that they were replaced by four plastic zip ties that are only good for one use.

Operation:

Turning on the Mushkin Enhanced 580W Power Supply illuminates green LEDs in the 120mm fan that really look nice, and are a welcome change from the now traditional blue LEDs found on so many power supplies.
