nMEDIAPC HTPC 500SA ATX Media Center PC Case
June 06, 2007

Operation (continued):

The "Basic Setup" configuration page is just that, a collection of basic settings for the VFD. Change the product name and model, communication, customize start and shutdown messages, brightness, etc. The "Media Center" configuration page shows the different variables for certain sections of the display.

The "OS/System" page has many variables to use for information corresponding to the installed Operating System. This is where you could customize the VFD to your heart's content. In my opinion, I have no idea why someone would want to have this information scroll through the unit. I mean OS OEM Code and Default Printer are totally useless to someone playing movies, music, or watching TV on their HTPC.

The most interesting thing to me with this VFD is that you can make custom art work or phrases with a CG editor that comes installed with the software.

It might take a little playing around with it, but you can make just about whatever you want to be displayed. Since my art skills aren't that great, I made a very simple CG file as you can see below.
