NZXT Precise 1200W Power Supply
July 12, 2007

Conclusion:

To put it simply, the NZXT Precise 1200W Power Supply is superb. The voltage regulation is way above par, the overall build quality is very good, and it has a simple understated design without any gawdy extras.

Anyone who has a huge, power hungry computer may be interested in this unit, but unless your middle name is "Overkill", then it will honestly be a lot more power than you could possibly need. Even my quad core based test bench system could be happy with a solid 600 Watt power supply, and that could possibly still be overkill. The key is that the NZXT Precise 1200W offers reliable power for the most demanding systems that might feature multiple processing cores, multiple PCI Express graphics cards, and more drives than you can fit in the typical case. But, if you have the money (we'll discuss price in a minute) and want to be about as future proof as possible in the PSU department, then this power supply should take care of you for years to come.

A search of PriceGrabber turns up nothing on this particular model, so a broader search of the Internet is required. About the only place you will even find then is Newegg.com, which obviously isn't a bad place to do business. You may experience some sticker shock though, as the Precise 1200W retails for $389.99, but can be yours for $329.99 after a $60 mail in rebate. Although you are getting quite a power supply for your money, that is quite a bit of money! You may not need to buy a new unit for years to come thanks to all the future proof features found in this unit, but this is pretty much an investment decision that might not be taken lightly by many people.

Unless you are running a very high end machine with a huge array of drives, I wouldn't necessarily recommend this power supply. But, if you are looking for future proofing and some of the best voltage control I have ever seen, then definitely check this unit out!

Given the high overall build quality, superb voltage regulation, and all around solid features and specifications, the NZXT Precise 1200W Power Supply earns the Bigbruin.com award of "Recommended".
