OCZ Technology ProXStream 1000W Power Supply
April 27, 2007

Conclusion:

Once again OCZ Technology has proven it knows how to manufacture hardware to meet all needs. While the market for 1000W power supplies may still be small, OCZ has recognized what it takes to enter this field and has produced a top of the line power supply.

This power supply does everything right. The cables are well wrapped, sufficiently long, and easy to manipulate for routing. Other features of this power supply include Active PFC and quiet operation. OCZ has gone one step further and made sure this power supply will fit in almost all systems. They did not leave any empty space in the chassis, so they were able to make this power supply the same size as a typical power supply; something that can not be said for all 1000+ Watt units.

If I was forced to come up with a negative for this power supply, it would have to be the lack of connectors. Connecting 12 SATA and IDE devices will meet the majority of the systems out there, but with the ability to provide 1000W of power, more connectors might be useful to some.

A search of PriceGrabber shows the OCZ Technology ProXStream 1000W Power Supply ranging in price from $298 to $339. While expensive for a power supply, it is within the price range of other 1000W power supplies. Of the 1000W power supplies I have reviewed, this would now be my top choice!

Given the performance and overall high quality features, I award the OCZ Technology ProXStream 1000W Power Supply the rating of "Highly Recommended".
