Benchmarking (continued):

3DMark2006:

The 2006 edition of 3DMark offers a sampling of tests that are used to develop a composite score to reflect your system's potential gaming performance. The results are presented in unitless "Marks", and higher is better.

In both the base speed and overclocked tests, the results were extremely close for both kits. The Titanium kit beat the Platinum kit by less than 1.0%.

Real World Gaming:

Finally, we have some real world 3D gaming tests. I tried out several 3D games and could notice an improvement in game play in every one of them. At 1280x1024 resolution, I ran through a few sessions of F.E.A.R. Extraction Point and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The results below are the average fps (frames per second) values as recorded by FRAPS over 10 minute periods. Higher results are better in these tests.

In each of these games, the new Titanium kit out performed the Platinum kit at 200MHz and 235MHz. While the difference in frame rates may seem minor, the difference in F.E.A.R. was close to 10% at 200MHz and 5% at 235MHz. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. showed similar results, but it was 7% difference at 200MHz, and 4% at 235MHz.
