Testing:
For testing purposes, the various
Thermaltake coolers were installed in a system with the following additional components:
» Intel Bad Axe 2 motherboard
» Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor
» 2GB (2x 1024MB) Mushkin XP2-8500 memory
» Seagate 750GB SATA 3 Gbps hard drive
» 256MB Gigabyte 7900GT PCI Express video card
» Mushkin 650 Watt PSU
» Windows XP Pro with SP2
» All latest drivers
Testing will be fairly straightforward for these coolers, and will consist of monitoring the idle and load temperatures of the Q6600 processor at stock speeds, and while overclocked to 3.0 GHz. Idle temperatures will be recorded while the system is booted to the Windows desktop with nothing else running for a minimum of 10 minutes. Load temperatures will be recorded while the latest version of
OCCT runs for a minimum of 30 minutes.
All temperatures were monitored using the
Core Temp utility, and the room temperature was held at approximately 21 degrees Celsius. As each cooler was installed onto the CPU, a fresh application of Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste was used after the CPU and cooler base were cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
The results can be seen in the graph below, and show that of these heavy weights, the V1 is the undisputed champion.
