Ultra Products ChillTec Thermo Electric CPU Cooler
March 14, 2007

Installation:

As mentioned previously, in order to install the Ultra Products ChillTec Thermo Electric CPU Cooler access to the back of the motherboard is required; therefore the first step is to remove the motherboard from your case (unless it is a new installation).

In the below left image the AM2 backplate has been fitted with a clear plastic protector sheet. The below right image shows that a black foam protector has been placed on top of the clear protector.

With both protectors in place, the backplate's bolts can be slid through the holes in the motherboard.

With the backplate in place, the CPU can be prepared for installation. The matching CPU mounts for the specific CPU type are attached to the cooler with four screws. The orientation of the cooler can be adjusted in ninety degree increments based on how the mounts are attached. Just keep in mind how much the side of the cooler with the fan will stick out over the CPU, as it could potentially block key components.

If the cooler is to be installed with the brackets under the fan, the fan shroud will have to be removed to attach the spring loaded bolts. This is done by removing four screws on the top of the cooler. After the plate with the Ultra logo is removed, the shroud slides off easily. In the below left image the aluminum radiator is visible after the shroud has been removed. In the below right image the inside of the shroud is visible.
