Xclio Stable Power 500W Power Supply
March 16, 2007

Packaging:

Arriving in a non-descript black box with bright yellow text, it stands out from the brightly colored, highly detailed boxes we are used to. Instead of the vast amounts of information most PSU boxes are covered with, this box provides the basic information shown in the below right image.

Opening this box, a plain white box is found which will help protect the power supply during shipment. Inside this second box the arrangement of all included items is visible. There is not much to the packing for this power supply; other than the layers of boxes it is simply wrapped in a thin bubble bag with the cables to the side and the manual on top. It was packed tightly and arrived undamaged, which is obviously the important thing.

The Basics:

The below left image shows the bottom of the power supply. Nothing much to see here other than the eleven bladed 140mm (14cm) fan behind a black grill. The below right image shows the typical specifications sticker which confirms the data found in the list of features and specifications. Here you can see that the 3.3 and 5V rails are each providing 30A, while the 12V rails are rated at 18A. This should be sufficient for a power hungry system.

Xclio did not install an exhaust fan, as confirmed by the below left image. The case metal has been punched out for the hot air to escape. There is also no voltage switch, as this power supply is auto-switching from 220V to 110V. The hard power switch is well positioned above the power cable, which makes it is easy to locate if you need to flip the switch without looking.
