Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 Dual Channel Memory Kit
May 14, 2008

Aeneon may be a newcomer to the enthusiast memory market, but they are quickly developing a name for themselves with their high performance modules. We have taken a look at a couple of their high speed DDR2 and DDR3 memory kits in reviews at Bigbruin.com and have not been disappointed yet. What we have this time around is another DDR2 kit from their XTune lineup which stands out in part due to its interesting specifications.

This review is going to take a look at a 2GB PC2-9136 (1142MHz) kit rated for 5-5-5-15 timings and 2.3V. Before taking a look at the kit provided for review, let's look at some of the published data taken from the Aeneon website...

Features and Specifications:

» Kit Part Number: AXT760UD00-18D
» 2x1GB Memory Modules
» Speed Grade DDR2-1142+ CL5 at 2.3 V
» 128M x 64-bit DDR2 module based on 16 components 64M x 8-bit DDR2 FBGA components
» 240-Pin Dual Inline Memory Module (DIMM) with Gold Contact
» Highest Quality Heat Spreader to ensure cooler operating temperatures
» Supports Industry Standard - DDR2-800 CL5 for standard operation

PC2-9136 is a rather odd speed grade, and I have only ever seen one or two kits rated like this. I am not sure what the appeal of 1142MHz is, but if you are interested in overclocking beyond the JEDEC standard of 1066MHz it is one of a handful of options available.

Packaging:

The image below shows that Aeneon packs their performance memory modules much like other brands do. The clear plastic shell provides a good look at the product, as well as at a bunch of the features and specifications printed on a paper insert. Get your scissors ready as this is the type of box you have to hack your way into.
