Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 Dual Channel Memory Kit
May 14, 2008

Conclusion:

Testing showed that the Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 dual channel memory kit could put up some solid numbers, keeping pace with another comparable kit from Kingston. At stock speeds this kit is ready for action above and beyond the JEDEC standard speed grade of PC2-8500, and with some relatively easy overclocking it can soar past PC2-9600 speeds.

There are no performance issues that would hinder this kit from being recommended to anyone looking to optimize their DDR2 based system, but price and availability have yet to be discussed.

A search of PriceGrabber turns up a few Aeneon products, but nothing on this kit. Buyng directly from Aeneon is possible, but it comes at a price of 149.90 Euros, which is over $232 (US). Even the best deal found by searching Google is just under $200. Not at an attractive price considering that faster kits from other manufacturers can be had for half the price.

The Aeneon XTune 2GB DDR2-1142 dual channel memory kit offers respectable performance and easy overclocking which make it worth considering for high end AMD and Intel systems. Regardless of the performance, it is hard to justify spending $200 on a 2GB kit of DDR2 memory, and this issue is the only thing keeping it from being "Highly Recommended". The strong performance can't be ignored, and this kit is still worthy of the "Recommended" award if you can find a good deal on it.
