Nesteq EECS 700 Watt Ultra Quiet Power Supply
April 22, 2008

External Examination (continued):

The below left image takes a look at the back of the power supply which features wide open hexagonal perforations for optimal cooling, a connection for AC power, and a power switch. Nothing overly exciting out here, but the central location of the power switch is different. Usually they are located off to one side which may leave you fumbling around if you happen to reach for it blindly. But with the switch in the center, you always now just where to reach, even without looking.

The above right image shows the data label on one side of the power supply, as well as smaller stickers which announce that it is RoHS compliant and its efficiency is certified to be 80 Plus.

In the below left image we see the cooling fan once again, as well as an edge view of the modular connections. The below right image takes a closer look at the eight modular connections; four for PCI Express graphics cards, and four to be used for drives, fans, and everything else. No details are provided on how the four 12V rails are mapped, and I would be interested to know how eight modular connections and three motherboard connections share the four 12V rails.

The above right image also provides a closer look at the area where the hard wired cables exit the housing. The edge of the hole isn't trimmed in plastic, but the edges have been rounded to reduce the risk of abrading the wires.
