Noctua NH-U12P Heatpipe CPU Cooler
March 03, 2008

Noctua is an Austrian designer and manufacturer of computer cooling components that gets right down to business with their products. No gimmicks, no frills, just well conceived coolers for cases, processors, and chipsets that "serve their purpose in a smart, precise and reliable manner."

We have reviewed a few Noctua products over the past few years, and their performance has always been exceptional. But no matter how well previous products perform, they have to keep innovating in order to keep up with the demands of today's systems. We first looked at their NH-U12 CPU cooler back in May 2006, and this review is going to take a look at an updated version of the same product, the NH-U12P.

The NH-U12P incorporates some design changes, an optimized fan, and some premium thermal paste in order to take the previously impressive performance of the NH-U12 to a new level. Before taking a closer look at the NH-U12P Heatpipe CPU Cooler provided for review, let's take a look at some published data on it taken from the Noctua website...

What we have so far is that this is a fairly large heatpipe cooler capable of cooling all of today's top processors with either one or two fans. And while I may have just missed this part on all other cooler reviews, the NH-U12P comes with a warranty... good for six years!
