OCZ Technology PC3-10666 ReaperX HPC 2GB DDR3 Kit
January 15, 2008

The Basics:

The two 1GB OCZ Technology PC3-10666 ReaperX HPC DDR3 modules are shown in the images below.

You might notice they have heatspreaders with attached heatsinks... if you didn't notice them, please make an appointment with your optometrist! The black metal heatspeaders, which are much different than the "XTC" honeycomb design, have the OCZ Technology logo on both sides.

With the next set of images you can see the heatsink from two different angles. You couldn't really tell with the previous images, but the heatsink isn't lined up vertically with the module. At first I thought the heatsink was one unit, but as you can see each side's heatspreader has its own heatsink.

The below left image shows the heatsink in one last view. The heatsinks feel very sturdy and don't have any play. And last but not least, we see the specification sticker on one of the two modules in the below right image. One strange thing on the sticker is that it says 1GB Dual Ch Kit. I think it should read 2x1GB dual ch kit instead as it is a little misleading.

The heatsink is rather high and after this initial inspection I foresee some setups will have issues with clearance. Installed into a DIMM socket, measuring from the motherboard to the top of the heatsink reveals they are about 2-3/4 inches tall. I don't have a humungous CPU cooler that will interfere, but please take this into consideration if you have one that over hangs (or even comes close to) your memory slots.
