Turbo Charge TB550 Portable Cell Phone Charger
January 04, 2008

The Basics:

The image below shows everything included. You have a pair of Rayovac AA batteries, the seven power adapters, and the Turbo Charge TB550 itself.

Each adapter features an 1/8" diameter plug on the end that connects to the charger, and about three inches away is the plug designed to connect to the cell phone of your choice. The adapters are quite compact, and it would not be inconvenient to carry a few of them with the charger if necessary. Perhaps you have a few devices of your own that you need to charge, or maybe you want to keep this in the glove box in order to charge all the different phones that you, your spouse, and your children own.

The Turbo Charge TB550 unit itself is slightly smaller in size than many modern cell phones, and it should easily fit in the palm of your hand. The rubberized grip makes it easy to hold onto, and overall the style is rather sporty and modern.

The above right image shows the 'business side' of the unit where you can see the power switch and connection for the power adapter. Flipping the three position switch towards the power connection turns on the flashlight, and flipping the switch to the other side of the centered off position enables the charger. The two bumps on either side of the power connection are actually the LEDs of the flashlight.

The back side of the charger's housing pops off in order to reveal the battery compartment. Installing AA batteries is easy enough, but I did initially have a problem getting a good electrical contact. A bit of prying on the terminals and everything was fully functional in no time.
