Lian Li PC-C36 Muse HTPC Case

Installation (continued):

The next three images complete the drive cage installation. From left to right we see the cage in place, the outside edge screws tightened securing the cage to the edge of the case, and finally the inside edge secured with screws to the link bar. I chose to install my single hard disk drive in this location because it allowed me to tuck the unused power cables into the empty space below the optical drive.

Once everything is installed the link bar is lowered in place and two small screws are used to secure the link bar to the back of the case. This gives the case added stiffness and supports the top cover should your entertainment center require you to stack another component on top of it.

Below we see the completed installation from the left side, back, and right side. We can also see how the longer than usual standoffs allowed me to route some of the cabling underneath the motherboard to keep the clutter to a minimum.

For reference purposes, I installed a discrete graphics card in the case to give users a look at that configuration. Below left you will see an image of the optional four card low profile back plate. The middle image is of the optional riser card installed on the motherboard, and the image to the lower right shows a graphics card installed in the riser. This was an MSI GeForce 8500GT; note the 1/2” clearance between this relatively short card (6-5/8” long from the mounting plate to the back of the card) and the LG Blu-ray drive. It's clear that the case was not designed for larger, more powerful graphics cards.
