Packaging and Accessories:
Tuniq sells the Potency 650W power supply in the black box shown below. The front of the box provides a picture of the unit, while the back lists a few of the key features and specifications.
Based on what I have seen so far, I already see a contradiction of sorts. The specifications from the product page describe this unit as "SLI Certified", while the front of the box says "SLI Ready", and the back of the box says "SLI Certificated". Imaginary words aside, there is a difference between ready and certified. Checking the
official list of certified power supplies at the SLI Zone shows that the Tuniq Potency 650W unit is not certified.
The below left image shows the opened box, which shows a manual sitting on top of the power supply wrapped in a plastic bag. A cardboard box contains the power cord and mounting screws, and otherwise there isn't too much packaging. The below right image shows all of the accessories, which include the manual, power cord, a bag full of zip ties for cable management, an adaptor to convert one 4-pin Molex connector to two 4-pin Molex connectors, and a bag of mounting screws.
External Examination:
The outward appearance of the Tuniq Potency is understated and attractive. Nothing gawdy or flashy, and just about everything is black. Black housing, black fan, black cables, even black screws and a black fan guard.
Air is drawn into the power supply via a 14cm, 11-bladed fan, and it is allowed to escape out the back of the unit thanks to a wide open hexagonal mesh. Out back there is an AC power connection and a black rocker switch, and little else of interest.
The below left image shows the data label found on one side of the unit. Here we get confirmation of the specifications, as well as some details on the fan delay off function. The below right image shows two relatively unmarked faces of the housing, where the only feature of interest is where the cables exit the housing. A plastic ring has been used to line the opening to prevent damage to the cables, and the bundle has been held together with a zip tie.
