Anyone using Grisoft AVG Free with Vista? I have been, but just uninstalled it. Whenever it wanted to pop up a confirmation that an update was received or that a scan was complete, Vista's User Control, or whatever that annoying double/triple confirmation crap is called would tangle it up resulting in an error message and a white screen.
I know it is Vista's fault, but I am trying other things now.
I got 1 year of 3-license McAfee Security Center free for having a Scott Trade account, and so far so good on that. _________________

The timing of e-mails is sometimes funny
Just got this e-mail today: Windows Vista UAC an oil slick for energy firm _________________ I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. - Oath of office of the President of the United States

Yeah - I was waiting to better understand UAC more before turning it off completely... But OMFG is it annoying.
You wanna run a simple benchmark? Or empty the recycle bin? Tell the computer over and over again like it was stupid...
You can safely shut off the UAC; it's intentions are good but it's definitely a PITA. Afew years back, a program called Prevx tried to do the same thing blocking changes without authorization. It too was a pain.....
I agree it is a PITA, but for the average home user it is better than letting something get installed without their knowledge. At least hopefully the UAC will stop some users from doing something stupid... at least that's my hope LOL
More than likely though, they'll just click through the warnings and not pay attention to them!!!!
