I guess they are trying not to make a big deal about it because they don't want people to wait to buy Vista, but supposedly most tasks are going to see a 25-50% increase in speed, especially on 64-bit versions.
What are your guys thoughts? And let's please not turn this into another "Vista sucks" post! Wave

I was just reading something that said SP1 provided no speed boost. Was that a link on here?

What this article also said is that now that MS has been forced into continuing to support XP, there will be an SP3 for that at about the same time... And it offers up to a 10% speed boost in things like MS Office.

Going link digging now...

How about....

I don't use Vista right now, and I'm taking a wait and see approach to see if SP1 makes enough of a difference.

Also, I learned my lesson a LONG time ago, never touch a new MS OS until at least SP1. Ever!

The stability and reliability are the major factors here; I've used the Business version for close to 6 months on a prebuilt system and it still has issues with hardware and software stability. I'm hoping SP1 will address these issues properly.

I also tried the Business version on a Dell...got a nice BSOD on the first boot into the OS. Long story short, it has WinXP PRO ever since.

Think Vista is the new ME?

Been using Vista on four machines at home, and two at work since release.

No issues, the only time I boot up my XP partition now is for benchmarks to compare to Vista.

I think I'm one of the lucky ones LOL

I've been using Vista for a long time now and it has no serious issues. It definately has minor issues though.
1. File transfer is an embarressment. Even small files take a long time.
2. Sound Card drivers for older cards do not have hardware acceleration.
3. Some bios features that work under XP do not work under vista, like nvidia network bridging.

Other than those 3 issues I have had no other problems. Usually clicking the icon and choose "run as administrator" gets any program to work.
