I'm not sure what OS you were planning on running for the HTPC, but if you decide to go the linux route(MythTV is really nice), or even have the possibility of eventually going the linux route, you might want to stick with an NVidia gpu over an ATI one. ATI is starting to become better under *nix, but NVidia is still a lot better and more supported.
Like usual though, as far as the other pieces, you're going to get what you pay for. (Which is quite a lot of bang for your buck now, in my opinion) I'm personally an Intel fan now for CPUs, their c2d and quad core line have pretty consistently been out-benchmarking AMD.
EDIT- whoops, looks like i'm a little late on the advice. Glad to see you went with an nvidia card. _________________ Currently being eaten by a system called Oracle9i, gosh it's sticky in here. |
