New Toy - E2180 2.0GHz Dual Core Overlocking

OK, switched motherboards and just bumped it up to 3.0GHz...

Needed more voltage, and the damper obviously isn't holding it well. I have it set to 1.250 or something, and it shows as 1.192.

Wow, that's a really low voltage. What are you temps and cooler ?
The voltage is kind of tricky for me as well. I set it to 1.16V but it shows up as 1.14V in CPUZ and Speedfan. Maybe cuz of vdroop?

I'll try to OC my E2160 like that as well

Surprisingly it is not very cool or quiet any more. Had to increase voltage to 1.22V (as reported by CPU-Z) for stability and it runs in the high 50s with 2 sessions of Folding @ Home active. This is still at 10x 300MHz. Weird since my E6850 runs over 1.4V at 9x 400MHz (375MHz currently) and can stay around 48C Folding. Same cooler, with the BIOS still configured to "Performance" mode for the cooling fan.

Still that's a sweet OC on a $60 dollar chip.

I was on AMD for a lot of years so the OC ease of Intel is still amazing me.

Might bear a little checking on that temp. Or just kick some water cooling on that thing.

I just noticed that while HWMonitor says 56-57 currently... CoreTemp says 42-43. The fan is running fast enough to let me know the BIOS agrees with HWMonitor, but something is funky.

I plan to remount the cooler, but not water. The air coolers today have all but made water cooling extinct to me. I know a higher end, higher voltage chip can run cool in this setup... just have to figure out this ones deal.

I read that it's because people have a disagreement between wether or not the Tjunction is 85 or 100 C. Therfore the 15 C difference between the two software. I think CoreTemp is the right one

But given the speed of the CPU fan, it is going along with HWMonitor.

I'm all but certain the e6850 on this board had CoreTemp and HWMonitor matching. Have to put it back in and check.
