So Misty and I pre-ordered the game. With it came a mount, a special belt and access to the Early Access Program. Which allowed up to play 3 days early.
This was VERY important to us because we're not sure how our systems will run the game. Well it seems that Funcom is saying there is a limit to the EA program, and it was closed at around 3am our time. Apparently though if you were someone who was all over their forums (which we weren't) you would have known to register early (but even some of those had problems) and you could have downloaded before today, even though our card said it started today.
Funcom isn't starting out very well... we'll see what happens I guess, and if we'll stick with Turbine and DDO (a known evil ) _________________ I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. - Oath of office of the President of the United States

I've heard that some people are considering switching from WoW to AoC. Is the game really that good, or haven't anyone got a chance to play it yet? _________________ It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Haven't gotten a chance to play yet. We did some checking and both our systems appear good enough (but not great) to run it. So when I got called saying we could pick up our pre-order we did.
This weekend stats the EA program, and we did get in so we'll see.
And in my opinion, just about anything is better than WoW. Just not a fan of WoW and hoping this game won't be much like it. _________________ I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. - Oath of office of the President of the United States

Yea I don't like WoW after 3 years of playing either. It's hard to be a casual and good at the same time and seriously, I'm not going to raid till 2 AM to get some shiny crap.
I might look into AoC, it sounds like a good game after what I've read. _________________ It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring.

Any word on how this game is turning out? Guess it doesn't matter anyway, I'm installing it at the moment and will find out soon enough. _________________

It's not bad. Since you liked WoW you will probably like it more than I do. As of right now, I see this as a diversion while Turbine gets more content into DDO.
But, I have been playing it and enjoying it. _________________ I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. - Oath of office of the President of the United States

i have a group of guys that started playing this in place of wow. They seem to really like it. The only thing I dont like would be all the upgrade cards you can buy. Comes down to who wants to spend more money on the game for cool stuff lol... Just not a fan of that method though its good for business. I'm not a fan of rpg's or i would probably buy it _________________

EverQuest for the win. More content than anything else in the MMO market.
BTW, do we get pics of Misty in the new belt (and nothing else)?
Never liked EQ... tried it and it quickly lost my interest.
And what belt??? _________________ I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. - Oath of office of the President of the United States

Almost my entire gaming group left WoW for AOC. I've even picked it up and been having a blast in it. There's so much to do, a lot of running from place to place. Usually I dont' play Melee characters but they did something a bit unique, you don't just hit auto attack and can walk away. You have to constantly tell it where to hit (Upper Left, Center, Upper Right). Then you have combos, press Cleave combo then you have to press the Center attack to complete it. Must more interactive, and you can also dodge attacks as a melee character (dont' have experience with this though).
Not sure what you mean by 'upgrade card' card Fox, I wasn't aware that they had anything you can buy outside the game to get upgrades in game. Maybe I am missing something I wouldn't pay for them anyways.
There is the monthly charge if that's what you are referring to, but that's the same that WoW, EQ2, D&D, and so many others have as well.
I played EQ2 when it came out through the second expansion, going back to it would be really hard to do. Gotten so out of touch from it. I tried and just couldn't get into it anymore. Probably from knowing so much, but forgetting so much too.
In comparison I've probably played most of the other major mmo, LoTRO, D&D, EQ2, WoW, and Vanguard for the recent ones.
