I was digging in my closet and found an old server case that was given to me long ago. An old Compaq server. Next payday, I'm gonna buy this little LCD and attempt my first mod with it being the center of attraction. Hmmmm... Now all I need is a theme and a little artistic talent ( I really have neither ). _________________ When war is like a video game, all honor is lost.

The review is nice, but it lacks one important observation for the intended audience. Namely:
How does it perform in a car environment? How well does one see the screen in the car when it is dark, when it is bright outside? Is it visible at all under direct sunlight?
Does it have some auto adjustments for dark/bright outside conditions?

Hi, welcome...
I am just now figuring out how to get the whole pc well mounted in the car...
Dark environment is not a problem at all... the screen is bright and easy to see, and the buttons are all illuminated for easy navigation.
Bright condtions are a different story... But not exclusive to the Lilliput. The details on the screen can be near impossible to read in certain conditions, but I experience the same conditions with my in dash stereo, and even my digital instruments on the bashboard. Not much you can do there, but try to position it in your line of site, but away from sun light. For use in the front seat, I don't know what screen would be much better at this...
There is no auto-adjustment, but you can easily adjust brightest/contrast, and perhaps create your own profiles for a quick switch of your own that would require just a click or two.
Thanks for the quick answer.
I did not expect much for the bright sun situation. I suppose it is OK.
I wonder however if the Xenarc is not better for this conditions? The Xenarc 700TSV lists:
Anti Glare Coating
LCD Brightness (w/o Touchscreen)*: 400 cd/m²
Display Brightness (w/ Touchscreen): 300 cd/m²
Contrast: 150 : 1
Nothing listed for the Lilliput. Anybody know what the parameters for the Lilliput are?
First I'd like to say thanks for an informative and rare review. It was the best source of information on this product!
Okay, you mentioned you used the stylus on the screen and it worked. But how does it respond to the finger? I dont plan on using and losing the stylus while i drive. If i want to skip a track i want to do it the same way i would on my head-unit. Please tell me how well it works with the touch of an index finger.
Thanks in advance. _________________ -=DeviantArt=Gallery=-
The finger works well, but not for small buttons or text links, like you might have for normal desktop stuff... But, if you have an app like many car pcs do, it should be fine! _________________

I saw this in another forum. The post says
Quote:
if i restart windows, and the screen looses the vga input from the mobo, it then displays the jurassic park logo
this kind of gets brighter until it gets the video signal back from the computer.
