It doesnt pay to have spare parts lying around! Those of you that know me, know I'm a sucker for fleabay. Back when I smoked my abit NF-M2 nView I went shopping and ended up picking up two of them off of the bay. Don't ask me my logic but somehow ended up with a 2GB set of OCZ PC2-6400 (OCZ2P800R22GK) and G. Skill PC2-6400 (F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ). Then I ended picking up a zalman CNPS8000 (only God knows why!). So that left me with a mobo/hsf/memory but no cpu!! What to do???? Couldn't afford a 5000+ BE, already played with a 4000+ and 4400+ Brisbane, ah yes fleabay to the rescue! One each AMD Opteron 1210 AM2 @ 1.8GHz.
So
..
Mobo: abit NF-M2 nView
CPU: Opty 1210 CCB6F 0750EPMW
HFS: zalman CNPS8000
Memory: G. Skill F2-6400PHU2-2GBHZ PC2-6400
Anyway just dropped everything together and fired it up to see what happened. At 03:20 I hit the power button
. IT WORKED! I'm still looking over my shoulder to see who set me up...it was just too d#%n easy. The initial bootups were FSBs of 225, 250, and then 280. Then started playing with ClkGen with the idea it wouldn't take long to bomb out and I could go to bed. WRONG!! That 1210 is a beast!!!!! Was doing my usual 8M runs of SPi and finally went down to 4M runs as it was taking too long and wouldn't crash. So I'm tired and got to think about work and it finally finished an 8M run at 360 x9 = 3.242GHz @ 677 T2 http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=355121 !! Was happy, said thats it, and needed to go to bed.
As usual my ocing has a shotgun pattern so thought that if I wanted to max (stable) this puppy I needed to do this in an organized manner whatever that is. Ive locked my setting as follows awaiting any suggestions to try for improvement. Heat should not be an issue in the final scheme of things as this may replace the 4000+ Brisbane in DCv2 and be water cooled. These setting gave me the following results:
Using ClkGen and SPi (only do 8m runs) I was able to pull 361.67 X9 = 3.255GHz @ 677 2T http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=355523
For a stable run did a 6 hour run of OCCT for 353 X9 = 3.177GHz @ 677 2T
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=355794
The OCCT run showed Core1 fluctuated between 50C 53C, Core 2 49C 51C, and my Vcore averaged 1.52v. In bios Vcore is set to 1.475v but Ive notice this particular board kinda overvolts.
One thing I really had to get used to....the high values when running this thing as I kept thinking 939 Opty! More than one I had to go back and change the 2 to a 3 when doing the FSB in bios
