The side panel has a huge plexiglass window held in with rivets, and features the CPU air duct as well as a grill/vent system that Ultra Products refers to as a "VGA Vent". This area is designed to let cool air from outside of the case in to cool your high end video card.
The back of the Aluminus is pretty much a standard affair with a spot for another 120mm fan (not included) and the slots for the expansion cards, motherboard I/O panel, and power supply (which also is not included with the Aluminus).
Moving inside the case the first thing you will notice is the large aluminum cover that conceals the drive bays with the word "ULTRA" in bold letters engraved in it. Directly below the 5.25" drive bays and cover are the five 3.5" drive bays. Each 3.5" drive has a removable tray that slides out for easy individual mounting of the hard drives and allows the drive to be mounted in either direction to make hiding of the cables easier.
Another great feature of the Aluminus is the removable motherboard tray. Two thumb screws on the right side of the tray hold it in place. Remove the screws and slide the tray toward front of case and it pops right out for easy installation of the motherboard.
The interior rear panel really has nothing note worthy about it. There is the mounting location for the power supply, the ports for the I/O panel of the motherboard, the 120mm exhaust fan mounting spot, and below all that the slots for the expansion cards. It should be noted that the Aluminus is lacking a tool-less mounting system that has become fairly common in many cases today. You are going to need a screw driver to secure your expansion cards in this case.
All in all the Aluminus is pretty impressive right out of the box. The paint is top notch, it is well laid out, well constructed, and roomy with no sharp edges to cut fingers on. Let's move on to the installation and see how that goes.
