Cooler Master Real Power 550W Power Supply
March 20, 2006

The Basics (continued):

The power usage display interface has to connect to the power supply, using the little connection shown below. It is a small four pin connection that provides monitoring and power to the display interface. Once again, this cable was long enough to reach all of my drive bays with cable to spare.

Unfortunately, I had an issue with the display interface. The display interface does not fit well in a tool-less situation, especially the type found on the Thermaltake Shark case.

As you can see below, I had to set the interface back, which caused it to not be flush with the front of the case.

However, I did not have this issue on the Thermaltake Tai-Chi case, which uses a different 3.5" installation bracket. The issue I had was a result of the interface being too small to mount in the 3.5" drive bay. If the interface was bigger it wouldn't have been an issue. The display interface does have a very nice blue light on it.

In addition to the power display interface, Cooler Master has included all necessary accessories to install this power supply in almost any system. As you can see here, you have the installation manual that has been translated into several languages, four mounting screws, standard US power cable, and the 24 to 20 pin converter. Next you can see the 3.5" display interface and the included silver bezel. This doesn't look fancy with the classic analog meter, and perhaps some would prefer a digital meter (which is my personal preference), but this is a matter of preference.
