In Use:

In the first image we see an overview of the whole screen in action, which doesn't really confirm much other than that it was functional. What I can tell you is that the 2D image quality is excellent, and I was quite surprised that this brand I had never heard of before looked so good. In addition to having a smooth appearance that was quite easy on my eyes, the brightness and contrast settings exceeded my expectations based on the published specifications. I generally can't use an LCD with either the brightness or contrast above about 50%, and despite the lower specifications, it was no different on this display.

The next thing I checked was to see if there were any dead or lit pixels. After combing the screen with a black and then a white background, I was quite pleased to see that the screen was perfect; not a single defective pixel!

The image above showed a quick look at the OSD (On Screen Display) of the X2gen MG19R8 19" TFT LCD Display, but let's take a look at a few a more screenshots. The first pair of screenshots both show the "Color" tab, which allows you to adjust contrast, brightness, gamma, color temperature, and color adjust. The below left image shows the tab with a window open to detail that the OSD is transparent, and as we will see later the transparency is user configurable. The below right image shows just the tab in question to highlight the contents.

The below left image shows the "Picture" tab which allows you to change the horizontal and vertical position, phase, clock, and sharpness of the monitor. What I found to be missing was control for size, and it seems like it may have come in handy. The frame around the LCD panel was either slightly shifted to the right or there was a band of unused screen on the left. The result was a black band on the left side of the monitor that I thought I could correct by increasing the horizontal size. But, unfortunately that wasn't an option!

The above right image shows the "Function" screen which allows for quick "Auto" adjustments of basic screen settings and color.
