HTPCs don't have to be much different than your typical computer, but a few key areas do need to be addressed. Just as with a typical desktop computer, there are limitations to what certain configurations can achieve, but customizing the hardware and software can enhance the experience to the point where it may threaten the existence of some of your more traditional home electronics components. - The Article

I would personally not suggest a chap sound card for an HTPC, since it's connected to a real sound system. A lot of cheap sound cards and motherboard audio codecs don't have a flat frequency response(Higher-end and bass missing), are noisy or have other problems. Even Creative, while pretty decent, doesn't make the best sounding cards out there. Look at Auzentech, M-Audio or other a bit audiophile-oriented companies. _________________ Antoine

Don't bring up half-year old threads to get your post count up for a giveaway. Nobody likes that. Don't mess with the bear. He's half grizzly. He'll eat you.

True, but still, it's not proper forum-etiquite (spelling?) to bring up old posts. Use some moderation. A few days, sure. A week, fine. A month, depends on the topic. Half a year, no.

I don't mind old thread posting as long as it contributes something... I do agree that thread digging for the sake of posting is nto cool, but as long as you have something reasonable to add it is all good to me.
Thanks for keeping an eye on the place though... _________________
